Dr Christopher LauFriends,

Would you spend $100 to save a life?

Today I’m asking each of you to save a life, particularly a child, pregnant woman or person with a chronic health condition who is threatened with the H1N1 virus.

As you have probably been hearing, only a small percentage of the H1N1 flu vaccine is available these days. Initially, NECC ordered about 13,000 doses of the vaccine. To date we’ve received only 2,350.

That disparity is pretty typical throughout the healthcare arena today, with 120 million doses of the vaccine ordered nationally and only 26 million delivered so far.

With clinics as well as private physicians running out or not yet receiving promised deliveries of H1N1 vaccine, we must intervene with these at-risk populations.

At NECC’s 11 clinics, doctors often prescribe Tamiflu. A five day dosage runs just under $100 at most discount pharmacies.

What I am asking you to do is to donate the gift of health (and, in some case, life) with a $100 donation today.

Please don’t wait. Lives are on the line.

If you can’t afford $100, please send whatever you can. Or perhaps you can join with co-workers or family members to contribute a total of $100.

As you may know, Northeast Community Clinics has been on the front lines of providing quality, comprehensive medical services to L.A.’s indigent communities since 1971, when we opened our first “free” clinic in Highland Park.

Now we are being challenged as never before to meet the overwhelming demands of “at risk” populations with early intervention.

Remember, the people we serve are the poorest of Los Angeles’ communities, often without resources or insurance. Often NECC clinics are the only hope for the poor and underserved when it comes to health care.

This is your chance to be part of the solution. You may not be able to solve the healthcare crisis by yourself, but you could save a life or someone’s health with a $100 donation.

Think about the peace of mind you will feel the next time you hear about the vaccine shortage, knowing that you have done your part to save a single life.

You will be someone’s hero. Because of you, someone will be here to celebrate the holidays with his or her family, to enjoy the gift of good health and to dream dreams of the joys of the season.

Since NECC is a 501 (c)3, so all donations are tax deductible.

Thank you in advance for your kindness. Thank you for being someone’s hero in the fight for his or her life!

Sincerely,

Christopher Lau, M.D., Executive Director/CEO
